How it was built

8 months ago I had never written a line of code.

Lighthouse started as a Search Fund. A little over a year ago I was sourcing deals — looking for small SaaS businesses to acquire. I had spent nine years in fintech sales and thought the real leverage was on the other side of the table.

Then something clicked. Instead of buying software, I started building it. Not because I had a CS degree — I don't. Not because I knew how to code — I didn't. Because Claude Code made it possible for someone who thinks in product to actually ship.

I spent months learning the software development lifecycle the only way I know how: day in, day out. Each thing I shipped taught me something the last one didn't.

This is by far the most ambitious thing I've built. And I built the entire thing without writing a single line of code by hand.

Early 2025
Lighthouse launches as a Search Fund
Sourcing SaaS acquisitions. Then the direction changed entirely.

First line of code. Kind of.
Started using Claude Code to build tools for running Lighthouse. Wrote zero lines by hand — and shipped anyway.
